Close up to Nature in Garden and Countryside- Day Workshop 1

Tutor Catherine Stott

This is the first of two day courses based in the Artist's studio in Devon, concentrating on close up views of the natural world in the garden or countryside. Bring natural objects you have found, photos of small scenes, flora and fauna, and explore how to sketch and paint your subjects with their natural setting. You will find more subject matter here in the studio. Choose to work initially in pencil, charcoal or other sketch media, and move on to your own painting medium. There is individual advice on drawing, composition, colour mixing and painting skills in your chosen medium. The aim of the day workshop is to improve your skill at composing and painting a scene with flowers, animals or natural objects as the main subjects, rather than a 'botanical' treatment.
Materials Sketching materials, watercolours and brushes and/or basic pastels required. If you usually work in a different water based medium, check with the tutor first that it is suitable for this workshop.
Also recommended- protective clothing for painting. Contact the artist for more advice on what to bring

Other costs Bring your usual materials. Additional materials may also be purchased from the tutor if required.
