August Gardens and Landscapes Short Break

A garden and landscape painting short break for all levels here in Devon at the height of summer. This Monday to Friday course mixes studio and location work and introduces skills to help you to sketch what you see, compose a painting and work successfully outdoors. We will cover sketching, tonal values and composition, negative painting and colour mixing, and there will be individual or small group help with particular painting skills for your painting medium. We aim for a full day or two half days out in one of the beautiful gardens of the area, using it as an inspiration for sketching and painting.

Materials Bring sketching materials and sketchbook, and painting materials in any non-solvent based medium. More detailed materials information is sent out a few weeks before the course. Do contact the artist for more advice about what to bring.
Also recommended- protective clothing for painting, suitable footwear and clothes for any outside work, including waterproofs. Digital camera or phone. Folding stool for outside visits if you have one.
Other costs Lunch/refreshments when on outside visits. All entry fees are included in the course price but bring National Trust or other membership cards if you have them.
